SkyBase Communications

The state and local contracting opportunity is for the exclusive FloridaSatNet interoperable Push-To-Talk Satellite network, developed and managed by SkyBase Communications. The network allows public safety users throughout the state of Florida to communicate with each other and other agencies, with each agency having its own talkgroup(s) as part of the service. The primary FloridaSatNet channel is monitored by the Florida Division of Emergency Management and designed as an "Emergency Channel" to allow responders to contact the State Emergency Operations Center during or after an emergency. The contract opportunity is being provided by SkyBase Communications, with the state of Florida and the jurisdictions of Leon County and Tampa City participating. The contract period is from July 1, 2024 through June 30, 2025, with an estimated value of $100,000.

The FloridaSatNet channels are offered exclusively by SkyBase Communications, and this contract opportunity is a single-source acquisition by the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice. There are no set-aside designations or restrictions on the types of organizations that can respond, as SkyBase Communications is the sole provider of the FloridaSatNet service. The Department of Juvenile Justice will have its own talkgroup as part of the service, and the primary FloridaSatNet channels are monitored by the Division of Emergency Management. The deadline for receipt of information is July 12, 2024.
