About this opportunity
The County of Sacramento is soliciting bids for six new 10-wheel dump trucks under RFB 2026-RFB-0081, with bids due August 25, 2026. The vehicles must be fully equipped, diesel-powered, three-axle trucks with 10 cubic yard capacity for construction and municipal maintenance operations.
All trucks must comply with California Air Resources Board standards, including Federal 2010 emission-compliant engines certified at or lower than 0.2 g/bhp-hr for oxides of nitrogen and 0.01 g/bhp-hr for particulate matter. Vehicles must meet California Vehicle Code, NHTSA, and applicable federal regulatory requirements. The specification establishes detailed chassis, cab, body, and component requirements with a minimum 54,000 GVWR and comprehensive driver safety and accessibility standards.
Bidders must deliver vehicles with fewer than 1,000 odometer miles, minimum ten gallons of fuel per tank, full fluid reservoirs, four sets of keys per vehicle, and complete manufacturer manuals. The County encourages submission of hybrid and alternative fuel options and may consider grant or incentive funding to reduce pricing. Bidders must provide users lists from the Sacramento area and shop and service manuals; product demonstrations and up to 16 hours of training (eight hours operator, eight hours mechanic) may be required.
Multi-year pricing provisions allow the County to honor initial bid pricing for up to one year from the bid submission deadline for same-model-year vehicles, with potential extensions for two additional one-year terms subject to mutual agreement. Pricing increases beyond the initial year are limited to 5% per vehicle model year and must be substantiated by documented cost increases.
The County reserves discretion to consider factors beyond lowest price, including emissions reduction, warranty terms, parts availability, delivery dates, and past performance. The purchase order includes 30-day termination-without-cause and 30-day cure provisions; the County may terminate immediately if external or state funding becomes unavailable or county budget appropriations are reduced or eliminated.
