About this opportunity
The City of Bowling Green, Kentucky is requesting proposals for pressure or compaction grouting of a sinkhole in the right of way of Scottys Way, with proposals due September 23, 2026.
The scope involves remediation of an active karst feature identified through geotechnical investigation at 450 Scottys Way near the FedEx facility entrance. Site investigation by Arnold Consulting Engineering Services documented subsurface conditions through soil borings, Standard Penetration Testing, and Multi-Channel Analysis of Surface Waves (MASW) testing, revealing red silty clay with rock fragments and bedrock depths between 11 and 27.5 feet. The geotechnical report recommends injection grouting (drilling to bedrock at multiple locations and injecting cementitious grout to seal the sinkhole throat and stabilize soils) or inverted filter repair (excavating to bedrock and stabilizing with rock and geotextile fabric). Contractors must demonstrate experience with pressure grouting, compaction grouting, injection grouting, sinkhole remediation, or karst stabilization completed within the previous five years and provide three project references with owner contact information for verification.
Respondents must maintain comprehensive insurance coverage throughout performance: Commercial General Liability at $2 million per occurrence, Automobile Liability at $1 million combined single limit, Workers' Compensation at statutory limits with Employers' Liability of $1 million, and Professional Liability Insurance at $2 million per occurrence and $2 million annual aggregate for engineers and architects. All insurance must be procured through carriers licensed in Kentucky with a Best Rating of A- or better, with the City of Bowling Green named as additional insured on a primary and non-contributory basis. Contractors must submit Certificates of Insurance through the myCOI portal and provide 15-day advance notice of any policy cancellations or coverage reductions. Full indemnification obligations apply for all claims arising from performance or breach, and compliance with federal and state OSHA and EPA regulations is mandatory. Site visits are available for prospective bidders to assess existing conditions.
