About this file
This is an exhibit document supporting a Request for Proposal (RFP) from the Kentucky Department of Transportation for sinkhole pressure grouting services at Scottys Way. The project involves pressure or compaction grouting to remediate a sinkhole located in the right of way. The RFP seeks qualified contractors capable of performing specialized grouting techniques to stabilize and repair the affected pavement and subsurface conditions. Specific details regarding project scope, site conditions, technical specifications, equipment requirements, and performance standards are outlined within the exhibit to ensure bidders understand the full extent of work required. Site visits are available for prospective bidders to assess existing conditions and determine appropriate grouting methodologies and material quantities needed for successful project completion.
The exhibit provides technical specifications, site plans, and engineering requirements necessary for contractors to prepare competitive bids. Bidders are expected to demonstrate experience with sinkhole remediation and pressure grouting techniques, along with proper equipment certification and qualified personnel. Payment terms, bonding requirements, and insurance specifications are established within the RFP framework. The contract award will be based on technical qualifications, pricing competitiveness, and demonstrated capability to complete the work in compliance with Kentucky Department of Transportation standards and specifications.

The sinkhole has now become unstable and requires repair. Due to the presence of buried utilities in the vicinity of the sinkhole as noted above (approximate locations shown) and the possibility of deep soils at this location, BGPW wishes to mitigate the sinkhole via non-excavation methods, specifically pressure grouting.
An MASW survey was performed by a local geophysical firm, as well as geotechnical drilling to determine depth to rock and the character/extent of the affected soils. These results indicate soils 10' - 26' deep and an unstable zone several feet beyond the fallout in every direction. At minimum we expect that the area shown above in magenta, approximately 40' x 40', will need to be treated.
If your firm is interested in performing this work, please respond to the Request for Proposals as instructed. Any questions should be directed to the Procurement Manager, Meghan VanMeter.
