About this opportunity
The State of Maine Division of Purchases is requesting quotes for side-by-side UTVs with a due date of July 23, 2012 (electronic submission by 2:00 p.m. local time). An in-state preference applies — tie bids are resolved in favor of Maine bidders or vendors offering commodities produced or manufactured in Maine.
The solicitation encompasses two distinct vehicle types. The primary scope is a Polaris Ranger XP 800 EPS with a 760cc 4-stroke twin-cylinder engine, automatic transmission with on-demand AWD/2WD capability, 1,500-pound payload capacity, 2,000-pound towing capacity, and electronic power steering. The Ranger XP 800 EPS base model is priced at $12,299 per unit. The secondary scope involves a 4×4 ATV with a minimum 400cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine, electric start with auxiliary recoil, automatic transmission with high/low/park/neutral/reverse gearing, shaft-driven 2WD/4WD capability, 25-inch tires, 3,000-pound electric winch, hydraulic brakes, and 4-gallon fuel capacity. Additionally, the solicitation includes procurement of LED lighting systems for twelve snowmobiles — each unit requires a single blue LED lighthead with weatherproof flasher assembly operating on 12 VDC with maximum 0.5-amp current draw and single toggle switch control. LED warranty is five years for the lighthead and two years for the flasher, both from date of purchase.
The state reserves the right to award on individual item or group basis, increase or decrease ordered quantities by up to 10%, and reject any or all quotes. Bidders may propose alternate or equivalent commodities with complete identification and descriptive literature. All transportation charges are prepaid and borne by the contractor. The state is exempt from Federal and Maine State Sales and Use Taxes. Quotes must exclude these taxes. Vendors must submit questions through the designated Question and Answer link on the Solicitation Details View page; responses posted there are the only valid guidance.
