About this opportunity
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, through its Florida Fish and Wildlife Research Institute, is procuring SeaTox Brevetoxin ELISA kits for use in measuring brevetoxin in seafood and environmental samples. This is a single-source procurement, not a competitive bidding opportunity, with a contract term of three years. The required goods consist of competitive enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) testing kits that must be approved by the Interstate Shellfish Sanitation Conference for regulatory shellfish testing for biotoxins, specifically for detecting Neurotoxic Shellfish Poisoning. The primary objective is to provide technical support to the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services in fulfilling the commission's mandate. Prospective vendors must submit written information regarding their ability to supply the specified commodities by February 24, 2026, at 12:00 PM ET. No bidders' conference or site visit has been scheduled. The procurement was posted on February 3, 2026, and is categorized under UNSPSC codes for chemical evaluation instruments and supplies, laboratory and measuring equipment, and sampling equipment.
The procurement justification identifies SeaTox Research Inc. as the sole distributor of the only brevetoxin ELISA kit meeting the Interstate Shellfish Sanitation Conference approval requirements necessary for regulatory compliance. No specific set-aside designations for disadvantaged enterprises or other organizational restrictions are indicated in the procurement documentation. The estimated contract value for this three-year single-source purchase is up to $500,000. All prospective vendors must demonstrate capability to fully perform contract requirements and maintain the integrity and reliability necessary for good-faith performance as a responsible vendor, and must comply with Chapter 287 of the Florida Statutes and all other applicable rules and laws. The selected contractor will be required to warrant its ability to meet all specifications outlined in the procurement justification.
