About this opportunity
The County of San Mateo Parks Department is requesting proposals for seasonal food truck vendors to operate at Memorial Park from July through September 2026, with proposals due June 5, 2026 at 5:00 p.m. Multiple vendors may be selected. The County has adopted a Procurement Preference for Local Businesses Ordinance that may apply to this solicitation.
This is a non-exclusive authorization agreement with no fees, rent, or financial compensation exchanged; selected vendors retain all revenues from direct sales to park visitors. Vendors must possess all necessary San Mateo County licenses and permits, including a County Health food handler/seller permit and Mobile Food Facility Permit. Vendors must comply with Chapter 4.107 of the San Mateo County Ordinance Code requiring use of biodegradable, compostable, reusable, or recyclable materials for disposable food service ware and SB 1383 compliance for paper products with minimum post-consumer recycled content (30–45% depending on product category). Menus must be suitable for a park setting with clear pricing. Vendors must operate during all park hours including weekends and holidays, accept credit cards, debit cards, and cash, and manage waste appropriately.
Vendors must maintain commercial general liability insurance with minimum limits of $1,000,000 per occurrence and $1,000,000 aggregate, business automobile liability insurance with minimum limits of $1,000,000, and Workers' Compensation coverage as required by California law, with the County named as additional insured. Vendors must demonstrate a minimum of three years of similar experience within the past five years and confirm they are not excluded, suspended, or debarred from the System for Award Management.
The initial term is one year, with the County holding one option to extend for up to two years, exercisable at the County's sole discretion with at least thirty days' written notice. Questions were due June 2, 2026 at 5:00 p.m. Evaluation criteria are Project Approach (30 points) and Price Reward Low Cost (10 points).
