About this opportunity

The state of Ohio, specifically Fairfield County, is seeking a contractor to replace an air handling unit (AHU) at the Southeastern Correctional Complex located at 5900 B I S Road SW in Lancaster, Ohio. The procurement involves demolishing an existing suspended air handler in the inside recreation building and installing a new air handler based on engineered permit drawings. The project requires comprehensive services including providing all labor and materials, covering inspection fees, daily cleanup of work areas, and off-site debris removal using contractor-provided dumpsters or roll-off containers. Contractors must disconnect and reuse the current operating fire damper on the new Air Handler Unit, and ensure Building Automation follows the sequence of operations outlined in project documents. The contract opportunity was posted on August 21, 2025, with proposals due by September 17, 2025, and the lowest bid will be accepted. The technical specifications detail a specific 39MN Size 17W Aero Indoor Air Handler with complex requirements including filter mixing boxes, hot water coils, ECM fan systems, and precise airflow and weight specifications.

No specific set-aside designations or enterprise restrictions were explicitly mentioned in the documentation. The project will be executed by MG Energy, located in Mansfield, Ohio, with Sean Destry Ditto serving as the design professional. The facility is classified as a Type II B construction with an I-3 use occupancy group, indicating a correctional facility setting. The mechanical work area covers 380 square feet, specifically focused on Room 138 in the recreational activity building. While no precise budget range was provided, the comprehensive technical requirements suggest a substantial investment in HVAC infrastructure modernization. The project includes detailed provisions for mechanical and electrical modifications, with authorization for five inspections across mechanical and electrical scopes. The air handling unit replacement emphasizes energy efficiency through variable fan speed control, optimal start algorithms, and precise temperature and air quality management systems.
