About this opportunity
Red Rocks Community College (RRCC) in Jefferson County, Colorado is requesting qualifications from architectural and engineering firms for design services on the East Wing Renovation project, with prequalification submittals due August 4, 2026 at 1:00 PM. A mandatory pre-submittal conference and site tour occurred July 21, 2026.
Firms must hold a valid Colorado architecture license, demonstrate five years of operation from a Colorado address, and have completed at least two projects exceeding $2,000,000 in hard costs. Colorado labor must comprise at least 80% of the work under state law. Preference is given to Colorado resident vendors and Colorado-based labor. Firms must register with SAM upon selection.
The scope encompasses architectural and engineering consulting for the East Wing on the Lakewood Campus at 13300 West 6th Avenue, Lakewood, Colorado. The project involves approximately 3,900 gross square feet of new space and 860 gross square feet of renovation to relocate the President's Office and Marketing department to the East Wing and renovate the Foundation Office. The RFQ incorporates Buy Clean Colorado (BCCO) Act requirements, mandating Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) for eligible materials meeting maximum acceptable global warming potential (GWP) limits established by the Office of the State Architect. The project will utilize a Design/Bid/Build delivery approach.
The estimated project cost is $2,563,000. Design services are expected to be completed by the end of calendar year 2026, with construction anticipated to begin in Spring Semester 2027 and occupancy by Fall Semester 2027. Short-listed firms will be announced by August 11, 2026, with oral interviews conducted the week of August 17, 2026. Final selection is anticipated for the week of August 24, 2026, and contract negotiation by August 31, 2026, with design services commencing September 8, 2026.
Evaluation criteria include project team qualifications, firm/team capabilities, prior experience, project approach including budget methodology, quality control and schedule management, equity and diversity initiatives, and work location proximity. The point of contact is Lynn Beltran, Purchasing Director, at Lynn.Beltran@rrcc.edu.
