About this opportunity
William Monroe Rowlett Academy For Arts and Communication, Inc., located in Manatee County, Florida, is seeking an innovative Architect and General Contractor to execute a comprehensive renovation of Building 6 at Rowlett Middle Academy. The project involves extensive interior and exterior modifications to create improved instructional spaces for arts programs, including band, orchestra, chorus, art, dance, and drama. Specific interior renovations include removing walls between classrooms to create larger spaces, soundproofing music rooms, constructing a unisex student restroom, expanding the art room, adding storage closets, replacing acoustical ceilings, installing new LED lighting, and implementing multimedia infrastructure. The RFP requires proposing firms to demonstrate extensive experience with school remodeling, particularly in charter school environments, and provide comprehensive documentation including references, litigation history, and project timelines. Key dates include a mandatory walkthrough scheduled for October 18, 2024, at 2:00 pm, with RFP responses due by November 8, 2024, at 4:00 pm. Evaluation criteria will focus on project proximity, ability to schedule non-student day work, and compliance with the Jessica Lunsford Act.
The procurement does not explicitly identify specific set-aside designations for disadvantaged enterprises. Proposing firms must meet substantial insurance requirements, including Commercial General Liability, Automobile Liability, Umbrella Liability, Professional Liability, and Workers Compensation. The estimated project budget ranges from $1,000,000 to $1,500,000, with $250,000 allocated specifically for owner-provided equipment, furniture, and fixtures. While no incumbent vendors are mentioned, the project requires integration with existing building infrastructure, including modifying current electrical systems, updating entry points, and addressing water intrusion and roofing issues. The renovation aims to transform the existing special education classrooms into functional, modern spaces for arts and leadership programs, with a focus on improving acoustic properties, updating technological capabilities, and creating more effective learning environments. Successful contractors will need to demonstrate technical expertise in school renovation, sound engineering, and educational facility design.
