About this opportunity
East Jordan Public Schools (EJPS) in Michigan is soliciting sealed bids for a roofing rehabilitation project on its elementary school building located at 304 Fourth Street, East Jordan, Michigan. The project involves the rehabilitation of three roof sections (Roofs 2, 14, and 15) totaling approximately 12,054 square feet, with an alternate bid option to include Roof Section 5 (1,827 square feet). The scope of work includes membrane cleaning, moisture survey, wet insulation removal, tapered insulation installation, roof drain flashing, EPA-compliant water reclamation cleaning, primer application, base coat installation, and top coat installation using an AlphaGuard Bio fluid-applied restoration system with a 20-year manufacturer's warranty. Bidders must submit unit prices for spot replacement of wet insulation, roof drain repairs, new drain installation, and existing metal decking repair. A mandatory pre-bid meeting and project walk-through will be held on Wednesday, April 1st, 2026 at 10:00 AM at the project site, with bid proposals due by 1:00 PM on Wednesday, April 15th, 2026. Bids must be submitted in sealed envelopes in person, by mail, or via email to Tom Reid at PO Box 399, East Jordan, MI 49727, or treid@ejps.org. The successful contractor must complete all installation work within 120 days of receiving notice to proceed, engage a qualified roofing inspector approved by the manufacturer for a minimum of 3 full-time days per 40-hour crew week, and provide a 2-year installer warranty from completion date. Bidders must meet all technical requirements including AIA Document A201 (1997 edition) contract terms and provide bid security equal to 5% of the Base Bid in the form of a Bid Bond, Cashier's Check, or Money Order.
EJPS reserves the right to award the contract only to Michigan-based businesses under 1984 PA 431, MCL 18.1268, creating a geographic set-aside restriction limiting competition to in-state contractors. All bids must include a sworn and notarized Familial Disclosure Statement disclosing any familial relationships between the bidder's owner or employees and School Board members or the Superintendent, as required by MCL 380.1267, and a signed Affidavit of Compliance with the Iran Economic Sanctions Act (Michigan Public Act No. 517 of 2012) certifying that the bidder is not an "Iran Linked Business." The School District reserves the right to reject any or all proposals, waive informalities or irregularities, and accept or reject bids based on its best interest regardless of bid amount. No specific budget range or award value is disclosed in the procurement documents. Bids remain firm for ninety (90) days after the bid date and may not be withdrawn for sixty (60) days. The project is structured as a direct contract with the Owner, with project administration under Mr. Nelson Ogden as Project Coordinator, and manufacturer inspections are scheduled for years 2, 5, 10, and 15 post-completion with inspection costs included in the contract sum.
