About this opportunity

Rogers City Area Schools is requesting sealed proposals for parking lot reconstruction and asphalt improvements at two school locations, with proposals due July 10, 2026, at 1:00 p.m., and a mandatory pre-bid site visit on July 6, 2026, at 12:30 p.m.

The scope includes reconstruction of the Elementary School Side Parking Lot (approximately 4,700 square feet) and high school front parking lot and drive entrance improvements (approximately 20,750 square feet). Work encompasses saw cutting, removal and disposal of existing pavement, subbase inspection and replacement as needed, aggregate base placement and compaction, fine grading, installation of approximately 3-inch compacted asphalt surface, and restoration and cleanup. Contractors must submit separate lump sum pricing for each location plus unit prices for additional excavation or subbase replacement per cubic yard, additional aggregate base per cubic yard, and asphalt replacement per square yard.

Construction must commence in summer 2026 with substantial completion by August 15, 2026, and final completion prior to September 1, 2026, before the school year begins. Contractors must hold Michigan licensing, provide certificates of insurance covering commercial general liability and workers' compensation, and submit performance and payment bonds equal to 25 percent of the contract sum. A minimum one-year workmanship warranty is required.

The project is funded through the District's Building and Site Sinking Fund; Michigan Prevailing Wage and federal Davis-Bacon wage requirements do not apply. Evaluation criteria include cost, experience with similar projects, references, ability to meet schedule requirements, quality of proposed materials and workmanship, and responsiveness to RFP requirements. The Board anticipates award on July 13, 2026. The District reserves the right to reject any or all proposals and divide work among multiple contractors as deemed in its best interest.
