About this opportunity
The County of Sacramento, Department of Transportation, is soliciting bids for comprehensive landscape, irrigation, and facility maintenance services across county-owned properties and road right-of-ways under a Request for Bid posted September 21, 2026, with responses due October 2, 2026, at 2:00 p.m.
Bidders must hold a California C-27 landscape contractor license and be capable of responding to any service location within 60 minutes with 24/7 emergency communication availability. All tree pruning must be performed by ISA Certified Arborists. Traffic control must comply with the current Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices standards. These are mandatory qualifications, not preferences.
The scope encompasses turf care, fescue maintenance, pruning, weed abatement, fertilization, litter removal, wall upkeep, tree staking, water management, pest and disease control, and site amenities maintenance across approximately 30 sites countywide. Work includes both scheduled monthly maintenance tasks and responsive unscheduled work. The data sheet specifies irrigation controller types (Irritrol, Hunter, Motorola, RainMaster systems) and sprinkler configurations (rotors, pop-ups, rotators, drip systems, bubblers) across more than 700,000 square feet of irrigated area with hundreds of trees. Turf mowing occurs weekly or every other week; tree and shrub watering intensifies to twice-weekly during summer months (June through September); disease and pest control continues throughout the contract period.
The contract term runs January 1, 2027, through December 31, 2027, with optional annual renewals for up to four additional one-year terms through December 31, 2031, subject to Board of Supervisors approval. Annual price increases for renewals will be adjusted based on the Consumer Price Index for U.S. Cities Average from the most recent available previous quarter. Bid prices must include all labor, materials, equipment, and management for monthly maintenance and unscheduled work, submitted separately for the initial contract year. Awards will be made to the lowest responsive and responsible bidder. Questions are due September 18, 2026. The County reserves the right to add, delete, or change service locations with cost adjustments negotiated if scope or frequency changes materially.
