About this opportunity
Fermilab, a U.S. Department of Energy facility, is requesting proposals for fabrication and installation of a Low Conductivity Water (LCW) Piping System in the F-37 Pump Room under RFP 378854, with proposals due November 19, 2026. The work supports the Proton Improvement Plan II (PIP-II) project and the international Deep Underground Neutrino Experiment at the Long-Baseline Neutrino Facility.
The scope encompasses complete design, fabrication, delivery, installation, testing, and commissioning of the LCW piping system, including pipes, fittings, valves, instrumentation, and support structures. The contractor must comply with all applicable codes and standards, provide detailed documentation and as-built drawings, perform hydrostatic testing, and deliver a system meeting specified performance requirements for water conductivity, flow rates, and pressure ratings. All materials must meet purity standards required to maintain low water conductivity for the equipment being cooled. The contractor must demonstrate experience with similar cryogenic or precision cooling systems and possess appropriate Illinois licensing and certifications for plumbing and HVAC work. Warranty coverage for materials and workmanship is required.
Work is performed at Fermilab in Kane County, Illinois. The contractor must coordinate with Fermilab's existing infrastructure and adhere to Department of Energy safety and quality standards. Fermilab will conduct site inspections and reviews throughout the project duration to ensure compliance with technical specifications and safety protocols. The project timeline requires careful scheduling to integrate with other PIP-II construction activities.
