About this opportunity
The Commonwealth of Kentucky Department of Parks is requesting bids for flood mitigation and campground renovation at Fort Boonesborough State Park under RFB-250-26 (RFB 785 2600000581), with bids due June 3, 2026, at 1:30 p.m. Eastern Time and a mandatory site visit on May 12, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. This is a general construction solicitation with no stated set-asides or local-vendor preferences.
The scope encompasses RV campground renovation across 161 campsites and primitive campground reconstruction, including interior restoration of two bathhouses, three picnic shelters, a meeting hall, and ranger stations with mechanical, electrical, and plumbing upgrades. Work includes new potable waterlines (2-inch and 6-inch HDPE with lead-free frost-free hydrants at each campsite), sanitary sewer system improvements (8-inch gravity lines, 4-inch laterals, and a new lift station), electrical infrastructure (three elevated platforms and pedestals per campsite), asphalt milling and resurfacing, and new gravel roadways. Interior finishes include carpentry, formed metal roof and wall panels, sheet metal flashing and trim, hollow metal doors and frames (three new 3x7 units), carpet tile, and facility packaged sewage pumping stations. Fire rings are required at 167 RV campsites and 35 primitive campsites. Design loads and criteria conform to the International Building Code 2015 Edition as amended by Kentucky, with floor live loads at 60 PSF, roof live loads at 20 PSF, snow loads at 15 PSF, wind loads at 115 MPH ultimate design wind speed, and seismic Category C. Structural steel must be hot-dipped galvanized per ASTM A123; reinforcing steel meets ASTM A615 Grade 60. Special inspections and testing include geotechnical inspections, concrete testing per ACI 318, and non-destructive testing of welds. Substantial completion is February 28, 2026, with a hard-stop final completion date of March 31 with no extensions — a 200-day schedule from contract execution.
Bids must be submitted exclusively through the Commonwealth's eProcurement system; postal, courier, and hand-delivered submissions are prohibited. Bidders must register in the Vendor Self Service system at https://vss.ky.gov (allowing 24–48 hours for activation) and submit the Official Bid Document and any required Bid Bond as a single combined PDF. Addendum Two was posted May 27, 2026. A public bid reading via conference call will occur at 3:00 p.m. Eastern Time on the closing date. Contact Purchasing Agent Susan Ward at (502) 226-0335 or Susan.Ward@ky.gov.
