About this opportunity
The City of Columbus, Georgia, through the Columbus Consolidated Government, is seeking bids for the exterior restoration and repainting of a historic 1952 Southern Coach Manufacturing transit bus that is operated as the "Freedom Express Bus Museum" by the METRA Transit System. The scope of work includes repairing the rear left side roof panel, rear right side panel, and rear bumper side skirts, as well as replacing the front and rear door rubber seals. The vendor will also be responsible for stripping, repainting, and refinishing the entire bus exterior, matching the existing cream and amazon green color scheme. Bids must be submitted via DemandStar by October 11, 2023, at 2:30 PM Eastern, with the City holding a virtual bid opening during the 3:00 PM hour on the due date. The City prefers the work to be completed and the bus returned within 40 calendar days after the vendor receives the bus. The successful bidder must comply with all federal, state, and local laws and regulations, and the City reserves the right to make the award to the lowest responsive, responsible bidder.
The RFB does not specify any set-aside designations or restrictions on the types of organizations that can respond. Vendors located outside of Muscogee County may submit additional pricing for transporting the bus to and from their work site, while the City will be responsible for ensuring the bus is accessible for transport if the vendor is located within Muscogee County. The RFB does not provide any information on incumbent vendors, current contractors, or existing infrastructure or technology that requires integration. The RFB also does not include any specific award values or budget ranges.
