About this opportunity

The State of Maine's Division of Purchases is requesting bids on sand blasting sand with an estimated quantity of 100 tons, with bids due April 24, 2012. Awards will be made to the lowest responsible bidder offering the best value, with consideration of quality, conformity to specifications, delivery dates, and overall economy. In case of tie bids, awards are given to in-state bidders or those offering commodities produced or manufactured in Maine.

The procurement specifies Garnet in medium-coarse size (30 x 40) for removal of heavy coatings and rust while maintaining a consistent steel profile between 2.5 and 3.0 mils. The estimated quantity of approximately 100 tons will be delivered in 50-pound bags over a one-year contract period from May 1, 2012 through April 31, 2013. Delivery is to the Maine Department of Transportation Bridge Division at 1542 Fuller Road, Carmel, Maine 04419, with vendors required to contact Joe Prescott 24 hours prior to delivery.

Pricing must be quoted net, including transportation charges on an F.O.B. basis to statewide destinations, and prices must remain firm for the contract duration. The State of Maine Procurement Card must be accepted as payment with no surcharges permitted. Vendors must provide current Material Safety Data Sheets in compliance with Maine chemical substance identification law and submit separate invoices for each order. The estimated quantity is neither a minimum nor maximum commitment, and the State reserves the right to increase or decrease ordered quantities by up to 10 percent unless otherwise specified.

Electronic submission is required with quotes closing at 2:00 p.m. local time. Questions should be directed to Todd Cummings, Buyer II, Division of Purchases, at 207-624-7366 or todd.cummings@Maine.gov. All questions must be submitted through the official online portal; only questions and answers obtained through the designated channel will be considered valid for the RFQ process.
