Request for Information for auction of Bulls via Private Treaty

The Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) is seeking bids to establish a purchase order for the procurement of breeding bulls, including Angus, Red Angus, Brahman, and Hereford breeds. The TDCJ is interested in attending auctions from September 1, 2024, through August 31, 2025, to purchase virgin, purebred, and registered bulls that will become the immediate property of the TDCJ. Interested vendors must submit two catalogs and a letter with details such as auction location, date, time, and contact information. The TDCJ will inspect the animals and conduct a breeding soundness evaluation, and any bull that fails the evaluation will be returned to the vendor with a full refund. The TDCJ is seeking to comply with all applicable state and federal regulations, including requirements related to Brucellosis and Tuberculosis testing. Payment will be made within approximately 30 days of the purchase order being issued. The TDCJ reserves the right to make the award based on the best interest of the state, which may include factors such as price, quality, and past performance.
