About this opportunity

The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) is seeking to award a sole source contract to the Association of Fish and Wildlife Agencies (AFWA) for a project that will build upon national research efforts to understand rates of participation in fishing, hunting, and wildlife viewing activities among U.S. residents, as well as the economic impact of those recreational activities. The project will expand the national research to provide Washington-specific information to help WDFW assess the significance and economic impact of these recreation opportunities in the state. The performance period for this contract is September 21, 2021 to October 31, 2023, with a possible one-year extension. The estimated contract value is not to exceed $87,500. WDFW is a member of AFWA, which has been contracted by the U.S. Department of Interior Fish and Wildlife Service to conduct the national survey. By partnering on this existing national data research effort, WDFW will obtain cost-effective access to participation and economic information that it would not be able to access on its own.

The procurement is limited to the Association of Fish and Wildlife Agencies, as WDFW has determined they are the only entity capable of meeting the state's requirements for this project. There are no set-aside designations or restrictions on the types of organizations that can respond. The incumbent contractor is AFWA, as they are currently conducting the national survey that this project will build upon. The total available budget for this contract is not to exceed $87,500.
