About this opportunity

The Macon Water Authority is seeking bids for a critical infrastructure project involving the replacement of 12-inch gate valves at the intersection of Vineville Avenue and Vista Circle in Bibb County, Georgia. The procurement is a formal Invitation to Bid for a public water main infrastructure improvement project, which includes replacing two existing 12-inch gate valves, installing one new 12-inch gate valve, and performing associated roadway work. The project requires mill and pave asphalt services, traffic control, and thermoplastic striping replacement, all of which must adhere to Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) Standards and Specifications. Bidders must attend a mandatory pre-bid meeting on August 26, 2025, at 10:00 A.M. and submit all bid questions by 10:00 A.M. on September 2, 2025. The sealed bids will be received until 2:00 P.M. on September 23, 2025, at the Macon Water Authority's headquarters. All work must be conducted during specific time windows: either between 10:00 P.M. and 5:00 A.M. for night work or between 9:00 A.M. and 4:00 P.M. for day work, with the Macon Water Authority providing gate valves and coordinating water main shutdowns.

The Macon Water Authority encourages participation from local, disadvantaged, minority, and women-owned businesses, offering potential state tax credits for subcontracting with certified minority-owned firms. Bidders are required to submit a Bid Bond for 10% of the total bid and must possess a Georgia Utility Contractor License. The successful contractor will be required to provide Performance and Payment Bonds for 100% of the Contract Price and must self-perform 51% of the project work. Contract documents are available for a non-refundable fee of $150.00, and only bidders who purchase these documents will be eligible to submit a bid. The project includes potential complexities such as buried railroad tracks at the project site, which may impact construction. The Owner reserves the right to reject any or all bids and to waive informalities. While a specific budget range is not explicitly stated, the procurement process suggests a significant infrastructure investment focusing on water main infrastructure replacement and associated roadway improvements in the Macon area.
