About this opportunity
The City of Livonia, Michigan is requesting quotations for repairs to the outdoor inline hockey rink fence at the Jack E. Kirksey Recreation Center under RFQ, with quotations due August 31, 2026 at 2 p.m. and submissions required through MITN.
The scope covers removal of existing chain-link fence fabric from the north and south ends of the rink (each section approximately 6 feet high by 30 feet wide), legal disposal of all materials and debris, and furnishing and installation of new 6-gauge or heavier chain-link fence fabric or approved equivalent. The contractor must secure the new fencing to the existing framework using heavy-duty ties, fasteners, and hardware; ensure proper tensioning to withstand impacts from inline hockey use; and leave the work area clean and debris-free upon completion. All labor, materials, equipment, tools, transportation, and disposal costs are the contractor's responsibility. Contractors must field-verify all measurements and existing conditions prior to quotation submission and coordinate scheduling with City staff.
Quotations must be submitted on a lump-sum basis and must include estimated lead time and estimated duration of work. Contractors are responsible for identifying any damaged or unsuitable existing posts, rails, or framework before proceeding with additional work and must notify the City of any such conditions. All new materials and hardware must be suitable for exterior, year-round use. Site inspections may be arranged by contacting Billy Keppen at 734-466-2415 or wkeppen@livonia.gov.
Opportunity text
The project includes replacement of the fencing located at the north and south ends of the rink only. Each section is approximately 6 feet high by 30 feet wide. The intent of this project is to replace the existing fencing with a heavier-duty fence material capable of better withstanding the impacts associated with use of an outdoor inline hockey rink. The selected contractor shall provide all labor, materials, equipment, tools, transportation, and disposal necessary to complete the following work: Remove the existing chain-link fence fabric from the north end of the inline hockey rink, approximately 6 high 30 wide. Remove the existing chain-link fence fabric from the south end of the inline hockey rink, approximately 6 high 30 wide. Remove and legally dispose of all existing fence material and associated debris. Furnish and install new 6-gauge or heavier chain-link fence fabric, or approved equivalent, at both locations. Secure the new fencing to the existing fence framework using heavy-duty ties, fasteners, and hardware appropriate for the application. Ensure fencing is properly tensioned and securely installed to withstand impacts associated with normal inline hockey use. Leave the work area clean and free of debris upon completion.
