About this opportunity

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority is requesting bids on emergency-exit rehabilitation across the 63rd Street line in Manhattan and Queens under an IFB, with bids due November 13, 2026 and a pre-bid virtual conference on October 19 at 10:00 a.m. via Microsoft Teams. This is an A + B contract with 100% MTA funding.

The scope includes installing stairway pressurization systems at thirteen emergency exits: nine exits will receive fresh-air intake systems drawing from street level, and four existing pressurization systems will be integrated with alarm connections linking the Long Island Rail Road system to New York City Transit Authority alarm infrastructure. Vendors must be registered with the System for Award Management (SAM) and hold an active MTA Bidder/Supplier Number before document requests are processed.

The estimated contract value ranges from over $10 million to $50 million. The MTA will conduct two site tours: October 20 at 10:00 a.m. at EM Exit 448 and 449 (41st Avenue and 29th Street, Queens, Fan Plant 8100) and October 21 at 10:00 a.m. at EM Exit 458 (63rd Street and 2nd Avenue, Manhattan, Fan Plant 8108). Attendees must bring personal protective equipment including hard hat, heavy-soled safety work shoes, safety glasses, and orange reflective safety vest.

Bid documents are available at no cost through the MTA website at https://new.mta.info/agency/construction-and-development/contracting/current-opportunities and the MTA Vendor Portal at www.mymta.info/vendor.
