About this opportunity

The State of Utah's Division of Purchasing, in conjunction with the Department of Natural Resources- Fire & State Lands, is seeking a prequalified contractor to perform wildland fire hazardous fuels reduction services in the Red Canyon area west of Cedar City, Iron County. The project involves hand cutting and stacking live and dead Pinyon Pine, Juniper trees, shrubs, and saplings across approximately 32 acres. This Invitation for Bid (IFB) aims to award a single contract to the lowest cost responsive and responsible vendor, with project performance scheduled from the notice-to-proceed date until December 31st, 2025. Potential bidders are strongly encouraged to inspect the project site, though a mandatory site visit will not be held. Contractors must be aware of potential fire restrictions during the performance window and guarantee pricing through project completion. The bid is due by September 3rd, 2025, and participation is strictly limited to contractors on the current Pre-approved/Pre-qualified Vendor list.

The procurement opportunity has specific restrictions, requiring bidders to be on a pre-approved vendor list, which effectively limits competition to a predetermined group of qualified contractors. No specific set-aside designations for disadvantaged enterprises were mentioned in the documentation. While a contract performance evaluation form was included in the attachments, no information about incumbent vendors or existing infrastructure was provided. The solicitation includes a site map, general location map, and a detailed scope of work document to assist potential bidders in understanding the project requirements. Although no specific budget range was disclosed, the project involves comprehensive fuels reduction work on a defined acreage, suggesting a specialized contract focused on wildfire mitigation efforts in the Cedar City region. Vendors must carefully review the attached documents, particularly the scope of work and vendor prerequisites, to ensure compliance with all contractual requirements.
