About this opportunity

Bucyrus Township Trustees (Crawford County, Ohio) solicited sealed bids for reconstruction of Scioto Chapel Road (TR 114) with bids due May 26, 2026, at 5:30 p.m. local time at 1594 Mt. Zion Road, Bucyrus, Ohio 44820.

The scope encompasses pavement planning at 4-inch depth, asphalt concrete base and surface installation (PG64-22, Type 1), tack coat application, and linear grading with borrow material across approximately 1.71 miles of roadway (9,033 linear feet, 16 feet construction width, 11 feet pavement width). Work quantities include 16,059 square yards of pavement planing, 1,227 cubic yards of asphalt concrete base, 307 cubic yards of asphalt concrete surface, 442 gallons of tack coat, and 697 cubic yards of linear grading. All work must comply with ODOT Construction and Material Specifications dated January 1, 2023.

The estimated construction cost is $357,200. Partial funding comes from an Ohio Public Works Commission (OPWC) Issue 2 grant, with the contractor paid directly for OPWC-funded work. Project completion is October 16, 2026, with construction potentially beginning after contract award, which cannot occur until Bucyrus Township Trustees execute an agreement with OPWC following the release of FY27 funds on July 1, 2026.

All bids must include either a bid bond for the full amount or a certified check, cashier's check, or letter of credit equal to 10 percent of the bid, payable to the Bucyrus Township Trustees. The successful bidder must furnish a performance bond for 100 percent of the base contract amount from a surety company authorized to do business in Ohio. Prevailing wage rates per the Ohio Department of Commerce apply to all laborers and mechanics. Contractors must maintain comprehensive general and automobile liability insurance with minimum limits of $1 million per person and per occurrence for bodily injury and $1 million for property damage, provide Ohio workers' compensation coverage, enroll in the Ohio Bureau of Workers' Compensation Drug Free Workplace Program or an approved equivalent, and hold a valid Certificate of Compliance for equal employment opportunity. Progress payments are made monthly at 92 percent for labor and materials until 50 percent completion; labor is then paid in full while material retainage continues until final completion and acceptance.
