About this opportunity

The City of Greensboro Parks and Recreation Department is requesting proposals for removal of eleven dead trees at Random Woods Park, with proposals due October 7, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. EST and a mandatory pre-bid meeting on September 29, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. EST. This RFP is restricted to certified Small Business Enterprises (SBEs) with the City of Greensboro's SBE Program, creating a sheltered market for small businesses principally located within Guilford, Randolph, and Rockingham counties.

The scope requires removal of all eleven dead trees marked with orange X's at various locations throughout the park at 2100 Starlight Drive, with stumps cut as close to grade as possible and all trees and limbs removed without damage to surrounding landscape and vegetation. Contractors must submit a total firm price for removal of all eleven trees via the Greensboro eProcurement System (GePS).

Minimum qualifications include at least three years of experience providing tree removal services, three current references with contact information, active registration with the North Carolina Secretary of State, Certificate of Insurance with endorsements within ten days of award notification, and comprehensive background checks for all assigned employees within ten days of contract award. Contractors must acknowledge all exceptions to minimum specifications and requirements. Award will be made to the lowest responsive, responsible bidder. The City reserves the right to accept or reject any proposals, waive minor technicalities, request financial documentation, and award multiple contracts in its sole discretion.

Questions and answers close on October 2, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. EST. The anticipated start date is late September or early October 2026, contingent on potential City Council approval for some awards.
