About this opportunity
Suffolk County Community College is seeking qualified contractors for a comprehensive radio and vehicle emergency lighting installation and repair contract through Bid No. B25-015. The procurement covers multiple services including emergency vehicle lighting installations, scene lighting, Motorola product installations (two-way radios and scanners), and custom command box fabrication with graphic design and installations. Contractors must demonstrate at least five years of continuous experience in emergency vehicle lighting services, with proficiency in Code 3 or Whelan systems, and provide three professional references for similar work. The bid requires contractors to submit a billable hourly labor rate that includes all overhead and profit, with no additional reimbursable costs. The contract will span four campus locations: Michael J. Grant Campus, Ammerman Campus, Eastern Campus, and Culinary Arts Building. Bid submissions are due on August 29, 2025, at 11:00 AM, with a public bid opening scheduled for 1:00 PM the same day. Interested vendors must register and access bid documents through the Empire State Purchasing Group website at bidnetdirect.com/new-york/sunysuffolk.
The bid documents indicate strict compliance requirements, including various administrative and legal forms covering procurement, labor, and contract regulations. Vendors must complete multiple certifications, including living wage law compliance, child protection reporting, political gifts restrictions, and labor law adherence. The contract includes comprehensive insurance requirements, with vendors needing to maintain commercial general liability insurance up to $2 million, automobile liability, worker's compensation, and professional liability coverage. While no specific set-aside designations for disadvantaged enterprises are explicitly mentioned, the bid emphasizes ethical business practices and detailed compliance standards. The contract term is five years, with potential price adjustments limited to Consumer Price Index (CPI) percentage changes after the first year. Pricing structure allows for early payment discounts (NET 30, NET 15, NET 10), and contractors are expected to provide a preferred service turnaround of 10-15 business days for completed work. Although a specific budget range is not detailed, the contract will be subject to appropriation of funds by Suffolk County Community College and the Suffolk County Legislature.
