About this opportunity

University of New Mexico Continuing Education is requesting approval for a sole-source purchase of coding bootcamp programs from Quickstart Learning, with the procurement notice posted July 23, 2026 and a proposed contract effective June 18, 2026 at an approximate budget of $70,000 for Fiscal Year 2027. The sole-source justification rests on Quickstart Learning's unique capability to deliver live professional instruction with personalized support, a business model compatible with UNM's operations, and favorable revenue terms.

The scope includes live coding bootcamp instruction driven by industry trends and validated by a curriculum advisory board, weekly one-on-one 30-minute mentoring sessions, personalized grading and feedback, Slack student support, and technical-interview preparation and job-placement support. Quickstart Learning also provides marketing support by producing content for UNM approval and distributing through their own channels.

UNM documented due diligence on alternative vendors. Simpli Learn quoted $1,000 more per course with unfavorable revenue terms and reported negative market reputation. Data Science Dojo, a current UNM partner, lacks comprehensive front-end and back-end coding depth. Propulsion Academy, based in Switzerland, presented prohibitive time-zone administration challenges. Other evaluated vendors offered primarily self-paced training that did not meet UNM's requirement for live instruction and personalized support. Quickstart Learning proposed a 70% Quickstart Learning / 30% UNM revenue split compared to competitors demanding 90/10 splits, supporting UNM's justification for sole source.

Questions or objections to the sole-source determination are due August 8, 2026.
