About this opportunity

McHenry County Conservation District is requesting bids for native seed to support habitat restoration across 342 acres of conservation areas, with bids due September 10, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at the Lost Valley Visitor Center in Ringwood, Illinois. Seed must originate within 200 miles of central McHenry County, Illinois—a regional sourcing constraint that effectively limits vendor geography to southeastern Minnesota, eastern Iowa, central to southern Wisconsin, central to northern Illinois, and central to northern Indiana, with preference given to seeds from the specified region.

The scope includes multiple native seed species organized by habitat type and planting location, with individual species quantities ranging from 0.02 pounds to 339.36 pounds. Grass species must be provided on a pure live seed (PLS) basis; forbs and sedges on PLS or compensated weight basis with minimum 95% purity; and certain bearded and hulled species on de-fluffed or de-hulled bases. All bid prices must be firm and inclusive of federal, state, and local taxes with no separate shipping charges permitted.

Seed delivery is due November 13, 2026 to the District's Natural Resource Management South Facility at 14308 Hemmingsen Road, Huntley, Illinois. Payment terms are Net 30 days from invoice or delivery, whichever is later. Bids remain firm for 60 days after opening. Plans and specifications are available for examination at the Lost Valley Visitor Center, Brookdale Conservation Area, and on the District's website at MCCDistrict.org at no charge. The Board of Trustees reserves the right to accept any or all bids, reject low-price bids, and reject proposals containing unspecified substitutions.
