About this opportunity

The Maine Department of Transportation is requesting bids for the purchase of three vibratory reversible plate compactors, with bids due November 17, 2011.

The equipment must meet detailed specifications for aggregate compaction: weight between 600 and 650 pounds, maximum width of 30 inches, and adjustable handle height between 30 and 48 inches. Operational requirements include minimum centrifugal force of 7,000 pounds, vibration frequency of at least 4,000 vpm, forward and reverse travel speeds of minimum 70 feet per minute, variable hydraulic controls, and capability to operate on grades up to 30 percent. Power source must be an air-cooled, single-cylinder, 4-stroke gasoline engine with a minimum of 8 horsepower (Honda preferred), automatic low-oil shut-off, and dual-element air cleaner. Bidders must submit specification sheets and document any exceptions to the listed specifications on a separate paper; failure to document exceptions will be interpreted as full compliance.

Bid pricing must include shipping and delivery to Maine DOT Fleet Service in Augusta, Maine. Vendors must supply two complete parts manuals, two complete service manuals, and two operator's manuals (CD format acceptable). Manufacturer's standard warranty applies; warranty coverage begins on the in-service date and terms and conditions must be stated in the bid proposal. Evaluation criteria include price, warranty, manufacturer performance data, delivery schedule, parts availability, and other factors deemed appropriate. Vendors may be requested to provide training within eight weeks of delivery. All questions must be submitted through the Question and Answer link on the Solicitation Details View page, with responses posted for all vendors.
