About this opportunity

The Maine Department of Transportation is requesting quotations for the purchase and installation of two John Deere Tier III engine replacements on 2001 John Deere 624H wheel loaders (serial numbers DW624HX579339 and DW624HX579337), with quotations due October 19, 2011.

The scope requires replacement of existing Tier I engines with John Deere 6068HF285 Tier III engines rated at 185 horsepower at 2200 rpm, configured to comply with 2006 EPA and EU Non-road Tier III emissions standards. The contractor must be an authorized Maine John Deere dealer with access to electronic engine setup software and demonstrated capability to perform complex electrical, electronic, mechanical, and computer integration tasks. Installation must be completed within 30 days of contract award. The scope includes supply and installation of all standard and auxiliary equipment — two engines and associated control kits, hoses, clamps, mufflers, radiator components, instrument panels, throttle systems, and air cleaner kits — with corresponding part numbers specified in the RFQ. The contractor must provide technical support during and after the warranty period, adjust engine speeds to confirm operational parameters, submit comprehensive warranty terms with the bid, and provide a detailed list of all replacement parts used. MDOT will conduct pre-inspection prior to vehicle release.

MDOT will deliver the machines to the contractor's facility during business hours (Monday–Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.), with the contractor required to provide one week notice prior to delivery. The contract is governed by Maine state law and includes a one-year warranty following final acceptance. Quoted prices exclude federal, state, and local sales or use taxes unless otherwise indicated. The contractor assumes all packing, shipping, and handling costs. Questions must be submitted through the official Question and Answer link on the Solicitation Details View page. The contract administrator is Dan Rolfe, Quality Assurance, MDOT Fleet Services (207-441-2352).
