About this opportunity
Northwestern State University is soliciting sealed bids for the demolition of Prudhomme Hall under Project #01-107-24-05, with bids due October 29, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. and a mandatory pre-bid conference on October 13, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. in Natchitoches, Louisiana. A Louisiana State Contractor's License for Building Construction or Rigging, House Moving, Wrecking, and Dismantling (Classification 1.10) is mandatory and must be listed on the bid envelope.
The scope encompasses building demolition, asbestos-containing material abatement and disposal, decontamination, air monitoring, respiratory protection, worker protection, and site restoration including seeding. Newman Marchive Incorporated serves as the architect and environmental consultant. The Office of Facility Planning & Control manages the project under Governor Jeff Landry.
The contractor has 75 consecutive calendar days from issuance of the Notice to Proceed to complete all work. Liquidated damages are assessed at $250 per calendar day for delays beyond the completion deadline. Bid security of 5% of the total bid amount is required as a certified check, cashier's check, or bid bond from an approved surety company. Upon award, the contractor must provide a Performance Bond and Labor and Materials Payment Bond, each equal to 100% of the contract sum.
Award will be made to the lowest responsible bidder. All bidders must acknowledge receipt of addenda and submit corporate resolutions (for corporations), bid forms, unit price forms, and proof of contractor licensure. Bidders must also comply with Louisiana Revised Statutes requirements including non-collusion affidavits, criminal conviction attestations, employee verification system compliance, and workers' compensation insurance certification. No bid may be withdrawn for 30 days following bid opening. Contract execution must occur within 10 days of award notification. The University reserves the right to award items separately, grouped, or on an all-or-none basis, and to reject any or all bids. This project is contingent upon state bond commission approval and legislative appropriation of funds.
