About this opportunity
The California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) has issued an Invitation for Bid (IFB) for quarterly preventative maintenance and unscheduled repair services for a Truline Model #5600 shrinkwrapper located at their print shop in Sacramento. The procurement seeks a contractor who will provide all necessary labor, tools, materials, and equipment to perform quarterly maintenance in July, October, January, and April, as well as respond to unscheduled repair requests within a 4-hour response time. Qualified technicians must be able to service the specific shrinkwrapper equipment and perform comprehensive maintenance during DMV Print Shop hours of 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, excluding state holidays. The contract term is from July 1, 2016, through June 30, 2018, with key procurement dates including written questions due by April 5, 2016, question responses to be released by April 7, 2016, and final bids due on April 14, 2016. The IFB includes specific requirements for commercial general liability insurance of $1,000,000 per occurrence and potential workers' compensation coverage.
The solicitation includes provisions for Small Business Enterprise (SBE) and Non-Small Business preferences, potentially creating opportunities for different sized vendors. The DMV reserves the right to purchase replacement parts either from the contractor (at no more than 15% above wholesale cost) or through alternative vendor agreements. The procurement anticipates approximately 40 hours of unscheduled repair services over the contract term, with pricing to include both quarterly maintenance costs and an hourly rate for additional repairs. While no specific budget range is explicitly stated, the contract's two-year duration and limited scope suggest a moderate-value procurement targeting specialized equipment maintenance services. The solicitation covers jurisdictions in Sacramento County and potentially extends to San Francisco City, though the primary service location is the DMV print shop in Sacramento. Prospective bidders must demonstrate technical expertise with the specific Truline shrinkwrapper model and the capability to provide timely, professional maintenance and repair services.
