About this opportunity
The Auburn Hills Police Department is seeking bids to replace its detention area intercom system through a Request for Bids (RFB) issued on July 17, 2025. The procurement involves replacing twelve hardwired wall mount intercom stations with push button alerting and four wall-mounted voice-activated intercom stations in holding cells, with a new control station to replace the currently inoperable system. Deliverables include wall-mounted intercom stations, a control station, necessary wiring, hardware, installation, and warranty. The department is open to integrating with their existing IP-based Aiphone IX series intercom system used at parking lot entry/exit gates, and will also consider alternative control station proposals. Bids are due on August 14, 2025, at 10:00 am local time, with a mandatory pre-bid meeting scheduled for July 29, 2025, at 1:00 pm at the Auburn Hills Public Safety Building. Evaluation criteria will include price, proposal completeness, vendor capabilities, and compliance with technical specifications. The city reserves the right to accept or reject any bids and will award the contract to the most responsible bidder.
While no specific set-aside designations or restrictions on bidder types are mentioned in the documentation, the procurement is open to vendors capable of meeting the technical requirements. The existing infrastructure includes an IP-based Aiphone IX series intercom system at the parking lot entry/exit gates, which potential vendors may need to integrate with the new detention area system. The RFB requires comprehensive insurance coverage, including general liability, automobile liability, and workers' compensation. Bid prices must remain valid for 60 days after the bid opening, and the successful contractor will be responsible for delivery and installation at the Auburn Hills Police Department. Although a specific budget range is not explicitly stated, the procurement involves replacing a comprehensive intercom system across multiple locations within the police detention area, suggesting a potentially significant investment in communication infrastructure.
Opportunity text
The Auburn Hills Police Department is seeking bids to replace our currently installed detention area intercom system which consists of twelve (12) hardwired wall mount intercom stations with push button alerting and four (4) wall mounted voice activated intercom stations in our holding cells. The control station became inoperable, requiring the system to be taken out of service. In addition, we have a fully functional IP based Aiphone IX series intercom system that is used at our parking lot entry/exit gates and would be willing to consider adding the new intercom stations to this system. Bids using alternative control stations will also be accepted. The replacement system must, at a minimum, have comparable operating features to the system being replaced.
