About this opportunity

Guilford County Schools Purchasing Department is requesting bids for pest control services across all school district properties under IFB #6849, with bids due October 8, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. ET. All pest control work must comply with Integrated Pest Management (IPM) principles, emphasizing monitoring and targeted application rather than routine preventive spraying.

The scope encompasses indoor and outdoor insect control, rodent management, stinging insect nest removal, vertebrate management (birds and bats in compliance with North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission regulations), termite treatment, and other pest control requests as needed. Pesticide applications are restricted to after-school hours, normally after 3:30 p.m., when students are not present. The contractor must supply all labor, equipment, and materials.

The contractor must maintain General Liability Insurance of $1 million and Vehicle Insurance of $500,000 per vehicle, hold current North Carolina pest control licenses and certifications, and carry worker's compensation insurance as required by state law. All contractor employees and subcontractors are subject to mandatory criminal background investigations covering seven years, with disqualifying offenses including child abuse, rape, drug felonies, murder, and assault with deadly weapons. All contractor personnel must wear company-identified uniforms and laminated identification badges and adhere to school security standards.

Pricing must be submitted on a provided matrix detailing labor costs per hour, material costs per pound or ounce, permit costs, general administrative fees as percentages, and required taxes. All costs including transportation are included in the bid price as FOB delivery to designated Guilford County sites, with taxes invoiced as separate line items. The contract term begins upon signature and extends through June 30, 2027, with four optional one-year renewal periods available if pricing and performance are satisfactory. Questions are due by September 30, 2026, with responses posted by October 2. Bids may be submitted by mail, in-person delivery, or email to Alonzo Salter at saltera4@gcsnc.com.
