About this opportunity
Detroit Public Schools Community District is requesting bids for signage installation and final cleaning at Pershing High School (Bid Pack 2C) with proposals due October 22, 2026 at noon, following a pre-bid meeting and site visit on October 12, 2026 at 1:00 PM and 3:00 PM respectively via Microsoft Teams and on-site.
This is a Wayne County prevailing wage project; all bidders must comply with Michigan prevailing wage rates (detailed in Attachment M) across construction and skilled trade classifications. Contractors must submit notarized Iran Sanctions Affidavits and Familial Relationship Disclosures with bids; failure to provide the notarized familial disclosure results in automatic disqualification.
The scope includes interior and monumental signage installation plus final cleaning. Interior signage comprises room-number, directional, wayfinding, and life-safety signs per Detroit Public Schools interior signage standards (acrylic or ADA-compliant plastic, 1/8-inch thickness, raised tactile characters with Grade 2 Braille, mounted 48–60 inches from floor, high-contrast finishes). Dimensional letter signage requires cast-aluminum characters with halo-lit reverse channel illumination at 120V, 60Hz; approved manufacturers include A.R.K. Ramos, Gemini Incorporated, Matthews International, Metallic Arts, and Southwell. Panel signage uses 0.080-inch acrylic sheets with approved providers including ACE Sign Systems, American Graphics, Andco Industries, ASI-Modulex, Best Sign, FFI Group, Gemini, Innerface, Sign Masters, and others. The monumental signage is a single-sided 20mm full-color LED display (32 pixels high × 112 pixels wide, 2'1" × 7'4" active area) in a 4' × 8' cabinet with TCI industrial powder coat finish in Royal Blue, solar-grade polycarbonate cover, and 7'6" dual-leg pedestal mount. Electrical connections and foundation installation are the responsibility of electrical and concrete subcontractors respectively, outside this scope. Final cleaning encompasses locker exteriors, interior horizontal surfaces, and glass (interior during area closeouts, exterior in coordinated single mobilization). All signage requires 5-year warranty (dimensional letters) and 1-year warranty (panel signage); all work must be performed by manufacturer-trained, approved installers.
Contractors must provide comprehensive background documentation including three years of annual gross sales, business structure, state licensing, workers' compensation experience modification rating, prior legal violations, and project references within the past five years. All employees and subcontractors must maintain current required licenses and pass criminal background checks.
