About this opportunity
The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, Florida Forest Service is seeking sealed bids for the Patterson Loop 26/27 Timber Sale, a 254-acre harvest operation in Okaloacoochee Slough State Forest in Hendry County, with bids due October 28, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. EDT.
The scope comprises two operations: a third-row thinning across approximately 220 acres of 19-to-23-year-old south Florida slash pine (Areas 1 and 4), yielding an estimated 1,427 tons of pine pulpwood/mulch wood, and a clearcut across approximately 34 acres of planted eucalyptus (Areas 2 and 3), yielding an estimated 165 tons of eucalyptus pulpwood/mulch wood. Pine stands contain 200-to-400 trees per acre with diameters ranging 5-to-7 inches; thinning targets diseased, deformed, defective, forked, and suppressed trees while maintaining a post-harvest basal area of 30 or higher. All harvest operations require low ground pressure equipment. Sale boundaries are defined by roads, wetlands, fire lines, or obvious timber type changes.
The contract term is eighteen months. Bids will be opened at 10941 Palm Beach Boulevard, Fort Myers, Florida 33905. The Florida Forest Service reserves the right to reject any and all bids and to waive any irregularity in bids received. Interested parties may obtain complete bid information by contacting James Kavanagh at (239) 690-8031.
