About this opportunity

Weston Preparatory Academy, a charter school in Detroit, Michigan, is requesting proposals for parking lot replacement with sealed proposals due August 14, 2026 at 12:00 p.m. at CS Partners in Brighton, Michigan. Addendum #01, issued August 10, 2026, modifies specification and exhibit details; bidders must acknowledge receipt of the addendum on their quote forms or face rejection.

The scope covers removal of approximately 38,000 square feet of existing bituminous asphalt pavement and 910 square feet of concrete, undercutting of base grade as needed, and placement of four inches of new hot mix asphalt (HMA) in two two-inch lifts — one base course and one wearing course using MDOT #4E1 commercial HMA totaling approximately 5,561 tons with compaction. Work includes pavement striping and parking lot and driveway approaches between the sidewalk and street. The voluntary site walk-through occurred August 6, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. Questions were due August 10, 2026.

The successful contractor must commence construction no less than seven days after notice to proceed and complete all work by October 2, 2026. Bidders must submit a five percent bid bond, maintain 100 percent performance and payment bonds, provide three references, obtain permits at their own cost, and provide a one-year workmanship warranty. Contractors must comply with Michigan prevailing wage requirements under Public Act 10 of 2023, submit prevailing wage compliance certifications, and complete familial disclosure statements and school safety affidavits. Comprehensive insurance coverage is required, including workers' compensation, employer's liability, motor vehicle liability, and commercial general liability with minimum limits of $1 million per occurrence and $2 million annual aggregate. All proposals remain valid for thirty days following the submission deadline. The Academy is tax-exempt and will evaluate proposals on qualifications, experience, and capacity, not solely on price.
