About this opportunity

The Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) is issuing an Invitation for Bid (IFB) for On Call Tower Maintenance services across the state of Kansas, specifically covering Shawnee County and the City of Topeka. The successful contractor will provide on-call professional maintenance services for 86 radio towers in KDOT's 800 MHz radio communications system, including antenna installation/replacement, coax work, lighting service, microwave dish/radome work, and other related support. The contract term is 5 years, from June 1, 2024 to May 31, 2029, and bidders can submit proposals for maintaining towers in the western half, eastern half, or entire state of Kansas. The bid closing date is April 11, 2024 at 2:00 PM CDT, and bidders must request an official invitation to participate at least 24 hours prior to the closing date. KDOT will provide all necessary materials, and the contractor will be reimbursed for any authorized use of their own materials. The contractor must have appropriate safety certifications and equipment, and be able to respond on an emergency basis within 4 hours when required.

The IFB includes several preference programs, such as the Disabled Veteran Owned Business and Certified Business Bidder Preferences. Bidders must comply with the Immigration and Reform Control Act of 1986 (IRCA) and may be subject to debarment for unsatisfactory performance. No bid guarantee is required, and KDOT will be the sole judge of acceptable workmanship. The IFB does not provide any information about incumbent vendors or the estimated contract value.
