About this opportunity
The California Department of Food and Agriculture is requesting bids on office trailer removal and demolition services under IFB #26-0036, with bids due August 31, 2026 and an optional pre-bid walk-through August 17–19, 2026. A mandatory 3% Disabled Veteran Business Enterprise (DVBE) participation requirement applies; failure to meet this threshold results in bid rejection.
The scope covers removal, transport, demolition, and disposal of three single-wide mobile office trailers (two 12'×60' and one 12'×56') located at the JFTB Los Alamitos field office in Los Alamitos, California. The trailers have been in service over 33 years and are in poor condition due to wood decay, termite infestation, and oxidation. CDFA will provide pre-removal preparation including removal of interior and exterior equipment, utility disconnection, and removal of secondary structures. The contractor must inspect trailers for roadworthiness, perform necessary work to render them roadworthy (wheel and tire replacement, wheel bearing and axle lubrication, rear trailer lighting installation, door securing), remove and transport them off-site, and complete demolition and proper material disposal. The contractor is responsible for all labor, materials, equipment, permits, transportation, and disposal documentation including photographs and recycling compensation receipts. The contractor must hold a C-47 General Manufactured Housing trade classification and be registered with the California Department of Industrial Relations.
The contract term runs October 1, 2026 through June 30, 2027 with no renewal option. Work must commence within 20 calendar days of Notice to Proceed, with trailer removal and transport completed within 25 days and full demolition and disposal within 30 days. Award is to the lowest responsive and responsible bid. Prevailing wage and Labor Code certification requirements apply. A payment bond equal to 100% of the contract amount is required if award exceeds $25,000. Contractor insurance must include commercial general liability of $1 million per occurrence and $2 million aggregate, automobile liability of $1 million combined single limit, and workers' compensation coverage. Written questions are due August 21, 2026, with answers posted by August 27. Cost proposals must itemize four service components with no blank cells or zero amounts.
