About this opportunity

Broward County is issuing a Notice of Future Opportunity for architect-led consultant services to support renovation of the Broward County Convention Center and Northport parking garage in Fort Lauderdale, with a question deadline of September 24, 2026.

The scope encompasses program planning, investigative building studies, schematic design, design development, construction documents, bidding support, permit coordination, construction administration, and post-occupancy review. The Convention Center (approximately 600,000 square feet, constructed circa 1990) requires interior upgrades to ballrooms, conference centers, restrooms, and kitchens; digital signage; ADA improvements; flooring and carpet replacement; grand entry canopy replacement; ballroom lighting upgrades; audio and security system installations; escalator replacement; and building facade improvements. Exterior work includes perimeter wayfinding and signage, new lighting, and a new water taxi jetty with public shelters. The Northport parking garage (six levels) requires structural repairs, new elevators, parking guidance systems, improved lighting, lightning protection, fire suppression systems, and an emergency generator. The County may implement improvements in one or multiple phases depending on funding availability and facility access.

All project documents for interior renovations must be developed using Building Information Modeling (BIM) software. The Convention Center renovations must maintain LEED Gold-EBOM certification. The scope includes architectural, interior design, structural, mechanical, plumbing, electrical, fire protection, civil engineering, landscaping, signage and wayfinding, and security disciplines. The County notes that it may choose to add improvements as discovered during programming or planning.

No specific contract value, contract term, or proposal due date is identified in this notice of future opportunity. A detailed Scope of Work document is available.
