About this opportunity

Northview Public Schools of Grand Rapids, Michigan, is soliciting trade contractor bids through Procore Bidding for its Athletics Stadium Addition & Renovation at 4451 Hunsberger Avenue NE, with bids due November 10, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. local time. No set-aside or local-vendor preference applies. Bidders are encouraged to use minority, women, and handicapped-owned businesses, with no participation goal stated.

Bids are organized by trade contractor bid package and cover selective demolition, cast-in-place concrete, masonry, structural steel, roofing, glazing, drywall, flooring, painting, plumbing, HVAC, electrical, excavation and utilities, asphalt, landscape and irrigation, synthetic turf and track surfaces, and fencing and netting. Key work includes synthetic turf field replacement with base and drainage layers, concrete segmental retaining walls, and cement board siding. Architect Integrated Design Solutions and construction manager Rockford Construction administer the project. Bid Clarification 03 (October 26) and Addendum 1 (which deletes Section 32 3216 and requires acknowledgment on the Bid Form) update the bid documents.

Bidders must submit notarized sworn disclosures of familial relationships with board members or the superintendent, an Iran Economic Sanctions Act certification under MCL 129.311, a Criminal Background Affidavit, a Non-Collusive Affidavit, a Legal Status of Bidder Affidavit, and a signed Equal Opportunity Form. The board will not accept bids missing any of these. Bid security is 5 percent of the base bid, and performance and labor and material payment bonds covering 100 percent of contract value are due within 15 days of contract acceptance. Required insurance includes $1 million per occurrence and $2 million aggregate commercial general liability, a $2 million umbrella, and $2 million each for contractor pollution and professional liability, with carriers rated A-, VIII or better by AM Best.

The project is not prevailing wage, and Michigan use and sales tax applies. Bids must remain firm for 90 days from opening. No single trade contract may exceed 50 percent of the base bid without Rockford Construction's written approval. Change order fees are 10 percent for labor, 10 percent for materials and equipment, and 5 percent for subcontractor quotes. The board may reject bids for incomplete documentation, prior unsatisfactory performance, inadequate financial condition, or missing affidavits.

The mandatory pre-bid walkthrough (October 6) and the RFI and substitution deadline (September 10) have passed. Post-bid interviews are scheduled via Zoom from November 11 through November 25, 2026, with award anticipated December 15, 2026 and construction starting in Fall 2027. Turf removal is scheduled for March 22 to April 2, 2027, with substantial completion in September 2027 for the stadium and November 2027 for auxiliary fields. Bid documents are available on BuildingConnected.
