About this opportunity
The City of Melbourne Airport Authority is seeking sealed bids for the Northside Expansion Infrastructure Development project (NWC60) located at Melbourne Orlando International Airport in Brevard County, Florida. This infrastructure development project requires furnishing all labor, materials, services, and equipment for a comprehensive site improvement initiative. The primary deliverables include clearing vegetation (excluding trees 4 inches in diameter or larger) across approximately 60 acres, grading a fence line, installing 6,700 linear feet of 7-foot tall chain link fence with barbed wire, and installing three 16-foot single swing gates. Sealed bids are due on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, at 2:00 PM EST, with a public bid opening immediately following. A non-mandatory pre-bid meeting was held on December 18, 2025, with a mandatory site visit required for bidders. All questions must be submitted in writing using the Contractor Inquiry Form by 2:00 PM on Friday, January 9, 2026. The project completion deadline is set at 120 calendar days after the Notice to Proceed, which will be issued after Board approval and State clearance regarding gopher tortoise relocation.
The project is funded through FDOT Grant No. 447465-2-A8-01/G1U41, with a total project budget of $1,200,000. A bid bond is required, and upon award, contractors must provide a Public Construction Bond covering both payment and performance. The contract will utilize a Modified A101-2017 Standard Form of Agreement with a Stipulated Sum. Liquidated damages are limited to actual costs incurred by the Airport Authority, not exceeding 10 percent of the bid amount. Notably, the project involves coordination with Florida Power & Light, as the south boundary incorporates a 20-foot-wide underground power easement. Special considerations include potential gopher tortoise relocation and specific requirements for tree removal or fence line adjustment based on Airport Operations and Airport Maintenance review. While no specific set-aside designations for disadvantaged enterprises are explicitly mentioned, bidders will need to demonstrate technical capabilities, environmental compliance, and the ability to navigate complex infrastructure development requirements at an active international airport.
