About this opportunity
Northbrook Park District is requesting sealed bids for theatrical rigging repairs at the Northbrook Community Center, 3323 Waters Avenue, Northbrook, Illinois, with bids due August 6, 2026 at 3:00 p.m. All work requires Entertainment Technician Certification Program (ETCP) certified personnel and compliance with ANSI E1 Entertainment Technology Standards — the central capability filter.
The scope addresses 25 itemized deficiencies identified in a May 2026 inspection by The Chicago Flyhouse, Inc., prioritized into Priority 1 (12 critical repairs) and Priority 2 (13 additional repairs). Priority 2 addresses operating line tightening, side sheave operation, bent brackets, worn hand lines, and unrated bolts on electric raceways and loft blocks.
Bidders must demonstrate completion of at least three comparable projects within the past five years. A 10% bid bond or cashier's check is required at submission. The contract is subject to the Illinois Prevailing Wage Act, with Cook County rates set by the Illinois Department of Labor. Contractors must carry commercial general liability of $1,000,000 per occurrence and $2,000,000 aggregate, business auto liability of $1,000,000 per accident, and statutory workers' compensation coverage.
Work commences August 27, 2026 with substantial completion by September 25, 2026 and final completion by October 2, 2026, within a 25-business-day window. Work hours are Monday through Thursday 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Friday 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Saturday 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. (excluding September 5). Liquidated damages are $750 per calendar day for failure to achieve substantial completion. Ten percent retainage is withheld from progress payments until project completion. Written questions were due July 30, 2026; site visits were required by July 29, 2026.
