About this opportunity
The North Carolina Department of Adult Correction is requesting sealed bids for fire alarm system replacement at Tabor Correctional Institution, Tabor City, on a lump-sum basis, with proposals due July 14, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. A mandatory pre-bid meeting is scheduled for June 25, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at the facility; bidders who attended the first pre-bid conference on May 14 are exempt.
General contractors must hold either Intermediate or Unlimited license classification under North Carolina General Contractor Licensing Board requirements. Electrical, mechanical, and plumbing contractors under General Statutes Article 87 Arts 2 and 4 may bid as single prime if general construction does not exceed 25% of total construction value.
Each proposal requires a bid deposit or bond equal to not less than 5% of the proposal amount (cash deposit, certified check, or 5% bid bond from a North Carolina-licensed surety). Performance and payment bonds equal to 100% of the contract price are mandatory. Payment is 95% of monthly estimates with final payment upon completion and acceptance.
All proposals must include an Identification of Minority Business Participation form and either Affidavit A or Affidavit B as required by North Carolina General Statutes 143-128.2c; failure to complete these forms is grounds for rejection. Bids may not be withdrawn after closing for 60 days.
Plans, specifications, and contract documents are available for inspection at the North Carolina Department of Adult Correction office, online plan rooms (isqft.com, dodge.construction.com, bidclerk.com), minority plan rooms at The Institute in Durham and MMCA in Charlotte, and the East Coast Digital Plan Room in Greenville. Qualified prime bidders may obtain documents upon deposit of $150 (cash or certified check), with full refund upon return in good condition within ten days after the bid date. The owner reserves the right to reject any or all bids and to waive informalities.
