About this opportunity
The Village of Schaumburg Department of Engineering and Public Works is requesting bids on maintenance, repair, and rehabilitation of Well No. 11 under IFB #2026-IFB-057, with bids due October 9, 2026. Questions were due September 18, 2026 at 10:00 a.m., with responses due September 25, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. Bidders must be Flowserve/Byron Jackson authorized service providers — a capability filter that substantially narrows the competitive field.
The scope encompasses rehabilitation of a 75 HP Byron Jackson submersible motor and 5-stage Byron Jackson 11MQL bronze bowl assembly; installation of approximately 198 linear feet of new 8-inch threaded-and-coupled column pipe; furnishing and installation of new submersible motor cable; replacement of airline; installation of an electronic water-level monitoring system; replacement of electrical conductors from wellhead to motor control center (MCC); controls and SCADA integration; pump reassembly, installation, startup, and performance testing; and comprehensive closeout documentation. The existing motor and bowl assembly are currently stored by the Village and available for inspection. The existing column pipe and electrical cable shall not be reused. The well is approximately 265 feet deep.
Minimum qualifications include demonstrated ability to safely remove and dispose of mercury-containing seals, a project management team with minimum 40 years of combined relevant experience, heavy-lift equipment capability for loads of at least 100,000 pounds, a minimum of three comparable project references, an on-premises machine shop, and employment of an Illinois-licensed pump installation contractor on a full-time basis. Bidders must comply with prevailing wage requirements per Illinois Department of Labor standards and employment of Illinois workers on public works provisions. Bid security of ten percent is required; performance security of 100 percent of the contract amount is required prior to work commencement. Comprehensive insurance includes $1,000,000 general liability per occurrence with $2,000,000 policy limits, $1,000,000 automobile liability combined single limit, and $2,000,000 umbrella or excess liability coverage. The successful contractor must commence work within fifteen calendar days of receiving the Notice to Proceed. The bid sheet includes fourteen base line items and four alternates addressing potential motor replacement, bowl assembly replacement, new MCC installation, and peristaltic pump replacement. Responses must be submitted electronically through the Village's OpenGov e-Procurement portal.
Opportunity text
Well No. 11 is approximately 265 feet deep. The existing pumping assembly consists of a 75 HP, 10-inch, 460-volt Byron Jackson submersible motor coupled to a 5-stage Byron Jackson 11MQL bronze bowl assembly. The assembly was previously installed on approximately 198 feet of 8-inch threaded-and coupled (T & C) column pipe. The existing motor, bowl assembly, column pipe, electrical cable, and associated down-hole equipment have already been removed from the well. The existing motor and bowl assembly are currently being stored by the Village and are available for contractor inspection. The existing column pipe and submersible electrical cable shall not be reused. This project intends to rehabilitate the existing submersible motor; inspect, evaluate, and, if appropriate, rehabilitate and reuse the existing bowl assembly; replace the column pipe and electrical cabling; provide new water-level monitoring equipment; replace the existing MCC; reinstall the pumping assembly; and return Well No. 11 to reliable and fully operational condition.
