About this opportunity
The City of Fort Myers is requesting quotes for moving and relocation services to transport approximately 5,500 banker's boxes and 700 large plan boxes from Public Storage Units at 2235 Colonial Boulevard to a new warehouse at 2801 Michigan Avenue, with quotes due September 30, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. and a pre-submittal meeting on September 23, 2026 at 10:00 a.m.
The scope comprises a one-time lump-sum move of records currently distributed across 23 storage units (thirteen 10' × 25' units and ten 10' × 20' units) to an 8,000-square-foot destination warehouse. Boxes must be stacked no more than three high without requirement for shelving placement unless specified by the City. Three pricing options are available: moving only, moving only without shelving, and moving with city employee assistance for shelving. All costs—labor, supervision, transportation, equipment, fuel, materials, supplies, insurance, overhead, and incidentals—must be included in the quoted price with no additional surcharges or fees permitted without written City approval. The move is anticipated to occur in October 2026, with schedule coordination between the City and the awarded contractor.
Contractors must hold current Florida State licensure, demonstrate no record of judgments or bankruptcies, comply with E-Verify requirements, and maintain Florida public records law compliance. Contractors must maintain comprehensive auto liability insurance with minimum combined single limits of $1,000,000, workers' compensation coverage, and certificate of insurance with the City named as additional insured. Award will be made to the lowest responsive and responsible quote, provided the amount does not exceed $100,000; if exceeded, all quotes will be discarded and new competitive bid documents will be issued. Questions are due September 28, 2026 at 3:00 p.m. The City may terminate the agreement with ten days' written notice for cause or thirty days' notice without cause.
