About this opportunity
Waterbury Public Schools is soliciting proposals from qualified gymnasium equipment contractors to furnish and install one motorized gymnasium divider curtain at Bucks Hill Elementary School under RFP 8942, with a mandatory information session on November 16, 2026 at 9:00 a.m. and proposals due December 3, 2026 at 11:30 a.m. Attendance and on-time sign-in at the November 16 session are mandatory, and non-attendance renders a proposal ineligible. No state set-asides or prevailing wage requirements apply.
The scope is a turnkey installation: field verification, engineering and layout as required by the manufacturer, curtain fabrication, drive components, electric winch(es), controls, mounting hardware, electrical coordination, delivery, installation, testing, adjustment, and training. The curtain measures approximately 40 feet wide by 32 feet high, with a semi-transparent vinyl-coated polyester mesh upper section and an opaque solid vinyl-coated polyester lower section in green and black. Place of performance is Bucks Hill Elementary School, 330 Bucks Hill Road, Waterbury, Connecticut 06704, in New Haven County. The anticipated agreement period is 30 days from written notice to proceed.
The cost proposal is a lump-sum price covering all materials, labor, freight, delivery, installation, testing, and training, excluding federal, state, and local taxes, and must be submitted in a separate sealed envelope marked "Confidential: Price Proposal." Proposals above $50,000 require a 10 percent bid bond, and the awardee must furnish a 100 percent performance bond. Insurance requirements include $1 million per occurrence and $2 million aggregate general liability, $1 million combined single limit auto liability, statutory workers' compensation with $1 million employer liability, and $1 million per occurrence and aggregate excess/umbrella liability. The City of Waterbury and Waterbury Board of Education must be named as additional insureds on a primary, non-contributory basis, except for workers' compensation. The divider fabric carries a one-year manufacturer warranty, and winches, motors, drive components, and controls carry a full replacement warranty including parts and labor for five years from installation acceptance.
Questions must be submitted through the City of Waterbury ProcureWare website by 2:00 p.m. on November 19, 2026, with responses posted by November 24, 2026. Submit one original and three paper copies plus a PDF on CD or flash drive. Evaluation criteria are the proposed statement of work, cost schedule, experience and expertise of the proposer and assigned personnel, and demonstrated ability to complete projects on time and within budget. The City reserves the right to conduct interviews or short-list proposals.
