Technical Requirements Divider Curtain – Required Performance and Construction Requirement Minimum Specification

Configuration Motorized rectangular gymnasium divider curtain, approximately 40'-0" wide x 32'-0" high, field verified prior to fabrication.

Curtain construction Combination curtain with semi-transparent vinyl-coated polyester mesh upper section and coated opaque solid vinyl-coated polyester lower section.

Colors Green and Black

Lower material 22 oz/yd² (approximately 624 g/m²) vinyl-coated polyester is preferred. Proposer shall identify actual offered weight and submit product data.

Upper material Vinyl-coated polyester mesh suitable for gymnasium divider use and compatible with the lower solid section.

Flame performance Curtain and mesh materials shall comply with applicable flame-resistance requirements for the installation and shall include manufacturer test/certification data with submittals.

Shape Curtain shall be square/rectangular; no irregular cutouts unless specifically approved by WPS.

Edge clearance Provide a minimum 6-inch clearance between vertical curtain edges and adjoining curtains or fixed objects, except where a greater clearance is required by the manufacturer or code.

Egress Provide approximately 3'-0" clear passage at both ends of the curtain for egress, subject to field conditions and code/AHJ requirements.

Seams Minimum 1-inch-wide full-contact welded seams; electronically welded seams preferred.

Outer hems Outer edge hems shall be turned and welded/heat-seamed to prevent fraying.

Roll/hoist guidance Provide flexible webbed belts or equivalent manufacturer-engineered guidance components required for uniform roll-up action. Where belts are used, they shall be cut straight and true and shall wrap properly on the drive pipe without tracking or bunching.

Drive system Provide complete drive pipe/batten system, bearings, supports, and electric winch(es) sized for the curtain weight and dimensions.

Stored/stacked condition Maximum stored/stacking dimension shall be approximately 3'-0" from the drive attachment/support point unless a smaller dimension is provided by the proposed system.

Controls Provide manufacturer-standard supervised control, preferably a three-position momentary key switch or equivalent, located so the operator can observe curtain travel. Include limit controls and required control hardware.

Electrical Provide all winch/motor/control components. Clearly identify required power. Electrical installation/connection shall be included unless specifically stated otherwise and priced as an identified exclusion/alternate.

Safety System shall operate smoothly without exposed hazards, uncontrolled travel, excessive sway, belt mis-tracking, or interference with fixed building elements.

Delivery/installation All shipping, freight, handling, delivery, labor, lifts, equipment, materials, fasteners, installation, testing, adjustment, cleanup, and training shall be included.

Warranty

• Divider curtain winch(es), motor(s), drive components, and controls shall carry a full replacement warranty, including parts and labor, for a minimum of five (5) years from WPS installation acceptance.

• Divider curtain fabric/assembly shall carry a manufacturer’s warranty for a minimum of one (1) full year from WPS installation acceptance.

• Warranty service shall include removal and replacement labor, travel, and required adjustments for covered failures unless a longer or more comprehensive manufacturer warranty is offered.

• Proposer shall submit actual manufacturer warranty documents with the proposal or submittal package and clearly identify any limitations.

Product References / Approved-Equal Benchmark

The following products/manufacturers are provided as examples of the type and quality requested. They are not a sole-source requirement. The proposed system must meet the requirements of this RFP. Where a referenced manufacturer’s product name or standard configuration does not meet the stated 40-foot by 32-foot dimensions or belt-guided roll-up requirements, the proposer shall furnish another compliant configuration from that manufacturer or an approved equal.
