About this opportunity

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission is requesting sealed bids for tegu removal services across 13 traplines on public lands in Miami-Dade County under ITB FWC 26.27-09, with bids due September 11, 2026 at 4:00 PM ET and anticipated award September 16, 2026. Bidders must be registered in MyFloridaMarketPlace and SunBiz prior to bid opening.

The scope requires operating 429 live traps (Havahart Model 1079, Tomahawk S90, or S70) to capture Argentine black and white tegus. Services include daily trap monitoring, collection of morphometric data (with high-resolution photographs submitted for all captures), humane killing of captured tegus, and carcass disposal at South Dade Landfill or an approved alternative. The fieldwork period runs February 1, 2027 through October 31, 2027, with the contractor required to trap a minimum of 192 days and maintain all 429 traps operational during active trapping days (Monday–Friday). Monthly invoices and reports covering trap days, captures, morphometric data, and photographs are due five business days after each service period closes.

Bidders must demonstrate a minimum of three years' experience trapping and humanely killing nuisance or nonnative invasive wildlife; three years' experience using handheld GPS units and downloading data to Google Earth or ArcGIS; and three years' experience in data recording, database management, and technical report writing. Bidders must have no wildlife or animal cruelty violations and must provide a minimum of three professional references from wildlife removal contracts completed within the past three years and at least one completed technical report as primary author. Prior to project start, the contractor must obtain a South Florida Water Management District gate key and Right of Entry permit and an FDOT General Use Permit for access to seven trap locations; all permit costs are the contractor's responsibility. The contractor must maintain appropriate general liability and worker's compensation insurance.

The contract term is one year with an option to renew for one additional year (February 1, 2028 through October 31, 2028) under the same terms. Bidders must provide monthly pricing on a provided price sheet without alterations. The bid is awarded to the responsive, responsible bidder submitting the lowest total price. All equipment, materials, permitting costs, and carcass disposal expenses are included in the bid price. Financial consequences apply for failure to meet minimum performance specifications, with daily deductions not exceeding the total bid award.
