About this opportunity

This is an invitation for sealed bids issued by the Public Schools of Petoskey for a Mechanical System Remodeling Project at the Spitler Administration Building located at 1130 Howard Street, Petoskey, Michigan. The school district is procuring separate contracts for one qualified General Contractor and one qualified Mechanical Contractor to complete a comprehensive remodeling of the mechanical system at the facility. The mechanical contractor will be assigned to and coordinated by the general contractor. Key deadlines include a mandatory pre-bid meeting scheduled for Thursday, August 29, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at the project site, with alternative site walks available upon request. Sealed bids must be delivered to Kent Cartwright, Chief Financial Officer, at the Spitler Administration Building no later than 11:00 a.m. local time on Wednesday, September 11, 2019. Bids will be publicly opened and read aloud the same day at 11:00 a.m., followed by post-bid interviews no later than 2:00 p.m. Written clarifications must be submitted at least three days before the bid due date. Contract award is anticipated for September 19, 2019, with construction to commence October 17, 2019, and substantial completion targeted for December 5, 2019, with final completion by December 12, 2019. Bid documents are available for examination beginning August 26, 2019 at the Builders Exchange of Northwest Michigan in Traverse City and at the Public Schools of Petoskey offices.

All bidders are required to submit a Bid Security equal to 5 percent of the base bid in the form of a bid bond, certified check, or cashier's check payable to Public Schools of Petoskey. Bidders must separately indicate the cost of a Performance and Labor and Material Bond covering 100 percent of the project value, which should not be included in the base bid amount. All bids must be accompanied by a sworn, notarized statement disclosing any familial relationships between the bidder and members of the Board of Education or the Superintendent. Bid proposals are firm for 30 days from the date of bid receipt. The school district reserves the right to reject any and all bids and is not obligated to accept the lowest bid. No specific set-asides, incumbent vendors, current contractors, or budget ranges are identified in the procurement documents. Prospective bidders should note that verbal answers to clarification questions are not binding; only written responses are considered official.
